Dr. Drew Hart To Visit Grace College During Black History MonthWINONA LAKE – The Grace College Department of History and Political Science, School of Arts and Sciences, Black Student Association and Council for Diversity and Inclusion will welcome Dr. Drew Hart, author and professor of theology and religion at Messiah College, to campus this February.

The event, titled “400 Years of Black History: An Evening with Drew Hart,” will take place at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 in Westminster Hall. The evening will include a presentation from Hart, a time for questions and answers, a book signing and refreshments.

“Dr. Hart is a recognized intellectual and thought leader who has written extensively about the intersection of race and theology. I know he will challenge us to consider this topic in important ways,” said Dr. Jared Burkholder, chair of the Department of History and Political Science at Grace. “I hope that those who attend will be struck anew with the fact that the historic experiences of black Americans are part and parcel of American history. We are better equipped to understand issues of racism today when we confront the past.”

In 2017, Hart was the recipient of bcmPEACE’s Peacemaker Award. Hart’s book, “Trouble I’ve Seen: Changing the Way the Church Views Racism,” was chosen as a 2016 Book of the Month by Englewood Review of Books. Copies of “Trouble I’ve Seen” will be available for purchase and signing by Hart on Feb. 4.

The public is invited to attend this free event.
