Plant the Seed, Read! Community Book Read special events continue with a lecture on the swamps and wetlands of Indiana.
These ecosystems played an important part in Gene Stratton-Porter's fiction and non-fiction writings.
This year's book selection, "A Girl of the Limberlost", is set in Indiana's wooded wetlands and swamps.
Dr. Nate Bosch, assistant professor of environmental biology at Grace College and director of Kosciusko Lakes and Streams, will lecture on wetlands in Indiana. Bosch will emphasize the importance of wetlands in the local ecosystems.
The event will be on the Grace College Campus in Room 211 of the Cooley Science Center Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
The goal of Kosciusko Lakes and Streams is to establish infrastructure for sustainable management and stewardship of Kosciusko County lakes.
