Costume contests and trick-or-treating in downtown Warsaw will be a part of this year's annual "Spooktakular."
The event will be Oct. 26 in Warsaw, and is being sponsored by Warsaw Community Development Corp. and the downtown merchants.
"The event gets bigger every year. Last year we had more than 700 children attend despite the rain, and we expect 1,000 children to participate this year," said WCDC Director Carmen Lock.
Registration is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.
Trick-or-treating will take place downtown from 6 to 7 p.m. Downtown merchants will offer candy to trick-or-treaters who visit their shops. The merchants who will distribute candy will have balloons displayed in front of their business.
A costume contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.
First and second prizes will be awarded for each category except in the best overall. The costumes will be judged on most original, funniest, cutest and best overall.
The categories are ages infant to 1, ages 2 to 3, ages 4 to 6, ages 7 to 9 and ages 10 to 12.
