Downtown Warsaw merchants are providing products to fill a "Cupid's Care Package" that will be given away to one winner of a Feb. 13 drawing.
Participants have a chance to take home the gift basket by filling out an entry form at any business participating in the event.
Champagne, chocolates, flowers, stuffed animals and other Valentine's Day items, including a gold-coated rose, are included in the prize.
"We thought this would be a good way of promoting people to come to the downtown shops," Carmen Lock, director of Warsaw Community Development Corp., said. "Get something for your sweetie, and have a chance to get them even more."
Flyers are posted throughout Warsaw's downtown, which list the businesses donating items and accepting entries for the drawing.
"The prize is a basket full of Warsaw downtown's fine merchandise," Dana Breading, local merchant and WCDC member, said. "It's a good mix of gifts."
WCDC held a similar event four years ago but had difficulty contacting the winner after the name had been drawn. The prize, consisting of flowers and balloons, was held until the individual came to pick it up.
"Apparently, he was in Florida," Lock said. "Can you imagine what those balloons and flowers looked like when it was finally picked up?"
This year's package now contains a gift certificate for flowers. Lock also said individuals of all ages are eligible for the drawing, but the champagne will be replaced if a minor's name is selected.
