NAPPANEE - Douglas N. Tobias, 80, of 14746 CR 22, Goshen, and formerly of Nappanee, died at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23, 2008, in Rural Clark County Nevada.
He was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Bremen, to Ward and Thelma Juday Tobias. On Jan. 25, 1948, in Nappanee, he married Beatrice "Bea" Linn, who died Oct. 28, 1998.
He was a Nappanee High School graduate and worked at Mutschler Brothers and Coppes Kitchen, Nappanee, as a younger man. He was one of four partners at Monitor Coach for many years. He also ran a hunting preserve, Indiagan Hunting Preserve, Edwardsburg, Mich., for many years. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He attended First Brethren Church, Nappanee, and was a member of the National Rifle Association and Nappanee American Legion. He also was a winter resident of Pahrump, Nev.
Surviving are a son, Brett (and spouse Terri) Tobias, Middlebury. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Tom Schiefer officiating. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery with a military graveside service.
