AKRON - Dorris L. Harrold, 88, of 8208 W. CR 1175S, Akron, died at 6:44 p.m. June 9, 2009, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Miami County, to Ernest and Altha Hamilton Harrold. On Nov. 26, 1942, at their current residence, he married Mildred O. Craig, who survives. She lived her entire life at this residence.
He was a farmer, raised registered Angus cattle, was a seed corn dealer for PAG for many years, trucked live stock and worked at the Claypool Sale Barn for 18 years. He was a 1938 Beaver Dam High School graduate and a member of Beaver Dam United Methodist Church for 59 years. He was proud of being a Beaver Dam 4-H club leader for 18 years. He also served on the Kosciusko County Drainage Board. He also was a member of the Indiana Angus Association and received a 50-year Historic Angus Herd Honor from the American Angus Association. He loved John Deere tractors and Angus cattle shows.
Also surviving are a daughter, Sharon (and spouse Dr. Richard) Sommers, Silver Lake; a son, Richard (and spouse Vicki) Harrold, Akron; grandchildren: Jill and Dan Harker, Hope; Janelle (and spouse Brian) Deatsman, Leesburg; and Jason and Tonia Harrold, Claypool; and four great-grandchildren, Luke and Chase Harker, Collin Deatsman and Noah Harrold.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastors Butch Troke and Evelyn Haney officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.
