Posted
Dorothy Symons-Flora, age 94, of Elkhart and a longtime Warsaw resident, passed away at Golden Living Center, Elkhart, on Thursday, April 1, 2021, just before 7 p.m.

The daughter of Melvin and Pearl Larrew, of Larwill, she was born in Whitley County on July 11, 1926. She was married to Hallie Symons, who preceded her in passing in 1980. Though she was later remarried, Hallie was the love of her life.

Professionally, Dorothy worked for Blue Bell and later for Tiara Vans in the sewing department. She enjoyed painting and reading until her eyesight would no longer allow her to do so. She was straight-forward and honest and will be remembered for her feisty personality.

Those who survive with memories to cherish include her son, Tom Symons, of Elkhart; great-granddaughter, Tanesha Rhoades, of Sacramento, Calif.; great-great-grandson, Kayden; sisters: Doris Banghart, of Warsaw; and Barbara (William) McDaniel, of Lucas, Texas; and brother, David Larrew, of Mentone.

She was preceded in passing by sister, Maxine Millington; brother, Marvin Larrew; infant brother, Lewis Larrew; and granddaughter, Rae Ann Symons.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, April 12 from noon to 1 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. Beginning at 1 p.m., Titus Funeral Home’s Sharon Brockhaus will officiate Dorothy’s Life Celebration® service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
