Dorothy E. Nelson, 91, died June 9, 2007, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Wakarusa, to Thomas and Lena Hoover Herring. On Feb. 23, 1935, she married Delford M. Nelson, who died June 21, 2000.
She was a nurse's aid at Murphy Medical Center for several years. She was a member of Church of Christ, Warsaw, and a charter member and past president of Jolly Jane Home Economics Club, Mentone. She volunteered at the Bowen Center and also the American Red Cross for more than 20 years, serving as nursing chairman for several years. She was past president of the Mentone PTA and was active as a 4-H leader.
Surviving are two daughters, Cloanne Snyder, North Manchester, and Martha "Martie" Lennane, Warsaw; a son, Phillip Nelson, Bourbon; a brother, Wilfrid Herring, Salem, Ore.; a sister, Ruthe Kerlin, Goshen; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
