Dorothy Clarke, 93, of 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, died at 10:55 p.m. Feb. 29, 2008, in Grace Village, Winona Lake.
She was born March 15, 1914, in Utica, N.Y., to Howard S. and Lucy Ann Ripley Clarke.
She lived in New York and Chicago, Ill., and moved to Winona Lake in 1946. She was an artist and retired from Free Methodist Publishing House after 33 years. After retirement, she volunteered at World Missionary Press, New Paris, for 14 years. She was a member of Winona Lake Free Methodist Church and Women's Ministries International. She attended Roberts Wesleyan, Greenville College and the Chicago Art Institute. Her love for children was demonstrated by her teaching Sunday school at Winona Lake Free Methodist Church for 50 years.
Surviving are a brother, Philip (and spouse Bertha) Clarke, New York; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and a sister-in-law.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Dr. Henry Church of the Winona Lake Free Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Maple Flats Cemetery, Vienne, N.Y.
Calling is from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
