NORTH MANCHESTER - Dorothy B. Gable, 87, of North Manchester, died at 11:10 a.m. Jan. 26, 2011, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center.

He was born July 31, 1923, in Huntington County, to Dr. Raymond and Haldes Sundland Gurley. On Nov. 14, 1943, she married Donald K. Gable, who survives.

She was a homemaker and co-owner, bookkeeper and secretary of Eagle Farms, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, and the Women's Circle of the church. She was a charter member of Timbercrest Auxiliary for many years, serving as president for five years; and a member of Business & Professional Women, North Manchester, where she was the first farm woman accepted in the organization; Tri-Kappa, North Manchester; and the National Camper and Hikers Association. She was active in the Huntington County Historical Society and the Indiana Archeological Society. She graduated from Roanoke High School in 1941, and attended Ball State University.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis (and spouse Judy) Gable, Elkhart, and Norman (and spouse Laura) Gable, North Manchester; a daughter, Rita Gable, Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren and two sisters.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Pastor Karen Eberly officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Friday at Timbercrest.
