Doris Elizabeth Moody, 87, Warsaw, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Oct. 3, 2016,  in her residence after a short battle with mesothelioma.
She was born April 23, 1929, to Wilbur and Elizabeth Mundy Sturtevant at Somerset Hospital, Somerville, N.J.
She was united in marriage on Oct. 9, 1948, to William F. Moody Sr. in Martinsville, N.J. He passed away Feb. 11, 2001.
She graduated from Robert Morris Elementary School, Washington Junior High School, Bound Brook (N.J.) High School and Somerset Community College, Bridgewater Township, N.J., earning an associate degree as an LPN in 1973.
Doris and her husband purchased a bungalow on Chapman Lake on Island Park. They vacationed every summer since 1989 until Doris moved from New Jersey to the lake in 2003 after William passed away.
She worked for Green Brook (N.J.) Regional Center as an LPN for 21 years from 1974 to 1995.
She was an active person in her community wherever she lived; at Martinsville Community Players Civic Theater, as a waitress, an usher at the Wagon Wheel Theatre and volunteering at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Hospice, and Big Brothers & Big Sisters. Upon retirement, Bill and Doris traveled to every state in the United States.
She attended Calvary Baptist Church, Oswego.
Some of Doris’ significant memories are the birth of her children, family reunions, family gatherings, and many happy times with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved hours of playing cards with her friends, vacationing, gardening and camping. She was on a bowling league and loved country music, Chinese, Italian cuisine and seafood.
Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23 and her favorite flower was a daisy. She had many dogs throughout her years: Spotse, Lady Jane, Brandy Wine, Candy and Madison “Maddy.”
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Susan Moody-Hine-Feger (and spouse Craig Felger) and Diana Lee Moody-Stull (and spouse Thomas Stull), both of Warsaw; a son, William F. (and spouse Pam) Moody Jr., Oregon; a brother, Richard (and spouse Denise) Sturtevant, Florida; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by two brothers, three sisters and two great-grandsons.
