Posted
SYRACUSE - Saturday at 2 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room, the Syracuse Public Library will host presenter Mary Anne Barothy, who is Doris Day's former private secretary and is the author of Day at a Time: An Indiana Girl's Sentimental Journey to Doris Day's Hollywood and Beyond".

The book now is available at the library.

In 1968, Barothy left her job as a reporter for an Indianapolis newspaper and moved to Beverly Hills, where she fulfilled a move fan's dream - working with a movie icon, Doris Day. As Day's personal secretary living in the star's home, Barothy was privy to the years when Day was fighting to regain her fortune, starring in a TV series, and beginning her career as an animal rights advocate.

Whether it was helping Doris with her lines for a dog food commercial, walking her 11 dogs, fixing the star's favorite breakfast, or aiding on "The Doris Day Show", Barothy got a rare glimpse into an extraordinary star's life.

Barothy will be talking about her time with Day and also will sell copies of her book. See personal memorabilia of Day's, including hand-written letters and never-before-seen-photos of the star. Featured on ABC Australia and the BBC News, Barothy brings her stories and insight into Day's world for all to enjoy. This program is free to everyone and is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
