NORTH MANCHESTER – Doreen Mae Myers, 86, of North Manchester, died at 1:30 a.m. April 17, 2012, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born Jan. 25, 1926, in York, Pa., to Lehman W. and Alverta Mae Bupp Crist. On June 7, 1947, she married the Rev. Carl E. Myers, who survives.
She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren and a former member of Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren, Elgin, Ill. She graduated from North York (Pa.) High School, attended Manchester College and earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Elizabethtown College. She was active in Camp Fire Inc. and was hospitality chairperson for Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren for many years.
Surviving are a son, Stephen Merryweather, Nevada City, Calif.; three daughters: Judith A. Myers-Walls, Lafayette; Linda M. Swanson, Elgin, Ill.; and Karen Myers-Bowman, Manhattan, Kan.; a brother, Jay K. Crist, York; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Borgmann officiating. Burial will be in Manchester Church of the Brethren. A memorial service will be at a later date at Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren, Elgin, Ill.
Calling will follow the service Sunday at the church.
