Dorcas Lenore Hawkins, 90, Winona Lake, went home to be with the Lord at 11:17 p.m. April 29, 2016, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born June 27, 1925, in Hamlin, Kan., to Ethel Hartley and Earl Studebaker. On Dec. 5, 1943, in Fresno, Calif., she married George James Hawkins. They shared 61 years of marriage together before he passed away on July 10, 2005. At the age of 10 her family moved to California. She was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 37 years where she was a homemaker. She moved to Winona Lake in 1978 and was a beloved piano teacher for many years. She was part of the Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church community since moving to the area. She greatly loved her Lord, her children and grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her four sons: John (and spouse Jean Minear) Hawkins, Winona Lake; Daniel (and spouse Chris) Hawkins, La Fontaine; Tim (and spouse Julie) Hawkins, Madison; and Peter (and spouse Aurelie) Hawkins, Sheridan, Wyo.; two daughters, Linda (and spouse Larry) Unruh and Janice Joy Shennum, all of Winona Lake. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, her husband, two brothers and one sister. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, with Pastor Tom Julien officiating. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
