SYRACUSE – Dora Ellen Burkholder, 82, of Syracuse, and formerly of New Paris, died at 1:50 p.m. Jan. 28, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.
She was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Albert and Ellen Volk Liebert. On March 21, 1958, in Brookfield, Ill., she married Delbert D. “Danny” Burkholder, who survives.
She attended public schools in Chicago and moved to the New Paris/Syracuse area 64 years ago from Chicago. She retired from Smoker Craft, New Paris, after 25 years and formerly worked at Goshen Rubber and Land O Goshen.
She was a member of Church of the Brethren, Syracuse, and attended First Brethren Church, New Paris.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lorraine Carson, North Webster, and Donna Blough, Goshen; a son, Randall “Randy” (and spouse Sharida) Burkholder, Middlebury; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 25 at First Brethren Church, New Paris, with the Rev. Stan Godfrey officiating.
