Everyone has a different view and opinion on the current war and about President Bush.
In my opinion, the biggest mistake that President Bush made concerning the war on terror was his belief that this nation would remain unified as we once were during the days of World War II. Those who lived through the Depression and World War II can recall how this great nation rallied together as one unified body to overcome some of the same obstacles that we are facing today. America won the war and freed many grateful people oppressed by mindless dictatorial ideology.
Sadly, however, the same patriotic sense of duty that was once expressed by all Americans during the days of World War II has long since passed. Back then, one never heard of prominent people, such as Hollywood's greatest entertainers or our Congressional leadership, belittling the president or our troops on radio or through published newspaper and magazine articles that we are seeing today.
Today, some of our most prominent newspapers and magazines are blatantly publishing critical intelligence information for the eyes of our enemy to read. Some of our news media and judicial leadership are complaining openly to the world how America is supposedly mistreating the Gitmo enemy combatants, an enemy who would kill innocent Americans if given another opportunity. Our intelligence and interrogating methods have been openly disclosed and scrutinized before the eyes and ears of the world by some of our most prominent elected officials. It is truly amazing how quickly most Americans have forgotten about 9/11 and the 3,000-plus innocent lives that were lost at the hands of Islamic fanatics who are still wreaking havoc in the world today. Yet, America is not listening to those who are trying to warn America and the world about the dangers of Islam. Instead, America is much like Europe, who has become sympathetic to Islamic beliefs and its perverted ideology. Recently, students in Britain were required to watch a video on Islamic prayer and were expected to pray to Allah after viewing this video. Those who did not pray correctly or refused received detention.
America is not the same country. America is now a cross between Sodom and Gomorra and the Land of Oz. America is being subjected to open displays of promiscuity, pornography and perversion in the movies, TV programming, videos and music lyrics and yet, we do nothing to stop it.
ABC News recently banned their staff from wearing the American flag lapel pin on national TV. Americans, as well as some of our politicians, are pointing the finger at President Bush as if he is to blame for all that is happening in America today. I think that President Bush made the mistake of believing that we still had the courage and strength of our forefathers.
I believe that we, the people, must share the blame for electing spineless politically correct politicians who lack the courage and fortitude to see this nation win the war on terror or stand up against countries that have succeeded in putting America in its place. Politicians who have made a mockery of what American truly stands for. However, Americans who sit on the sidelines and say or do nothing while those who hate this country go uncontested are just as much to blame. In the words of Dwight D. Eisenhower, "History does not entrust the care of freedom to the weak or timid."
