Donnie W. Smith, 76, of 904 W. Market St., Pierceton, died at 4:10 p.m. Nov. 25, 2007, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
He was born Dec. 16, 1930, in Adams County, to Carl D. and Mabel I. Bolinger Smith. On Dec. 16, 1950, he married Mary Adams, who survives.
He was a lifetime farmer; formerly worked at Dalton Foundries and Litchfield Creamery; and was former co-owner of The Post & Pastime Tavern, Pierceton. He was a member of United Methodist Church; Sheriff Posse, Fort Wayne; Gene DeHaven 20 Mule Team Expose-Canada, 1967; and President-Centennial committee in 1966. He was a life member of Moose Lodge 1423.
Also surviving are a son, David W. (and spouse Tam) Smith, Pierceton; a daughter, Sandy (and spouse Bill) Burnworth, Pierceton; a sister, Marilyn (and spouse Robert) Harris, Fort Wayne; three grandchildren: Jason (and spouse Jackie) Burnworth, Justin "Dean" Burnworth and Jerett Smith; and four great-grandchildren: Mariah Harter-Smith, Madison Smith, Hunter Smith and Austin Burnworth. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Art, Gale and Eddie Smith.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Noel Reed officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
