NAPPANEE - Donna M. George, 72, of 27388 Ind. 19, Wakarusa, died at 2:28 p.m. May 4, 2009, in Elkhart General Hospital after a short illness.
She was born Sept. 10, 1936, in Amherst Junction, Wis., to Ralph "Rusty" and Margaret Lutz Sutheimer. On June 16, 1957, in Nappanee she married Bill George, who survives.
A lifetime area resident, she was a 1955 Nappanee High School graduate and worked for Dr. James Zimmerman and at New Attitude Hair Salon for 17 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Nappanee, and Nappanee Home and Garden Club. She was very active with the Elkhart County 4-H Fair.
Also surviving are three daughters, Kelly (and spouse Todd) Ropp, Wakarusa, and Jill Henderson and Pam (and spouse Ryan) Vander Wey, all of Goshen; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley (and spouse Dean) Middaugh and Glenda Belt, all of Nappanee. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at GracePoint Presbyterian Church, Nappanee, with the Rev. James Simpson officiating, assisted by the Rev. David Stephey. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and Thursday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
