CLAYPOOL - Donn Richard Pierce, 74, of Palestine Lake, died Feb. 7, 2010, after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 25, 1935, in South Bend, to Donald Adam and Elsie Fozo, Pierceton. His wife of 52 years, Jeanne Ward Pierce, survives.

He attended Central High School and South Bend College of Commerce. He served in the Korean War and after many years retired from Carborundum/Unifrax. He was a member of the Gold Wing Club Chapter F, American Legion Post 49, and the Moose and Eagles lodges, all of Warsaw; Disabled American Veterans Post 19, Elkhart; and Legion Riders of Kosciusko County. His lifelong love of fishing and gardening gave him great enjoyment.

We remember a man who loved and was loved deeply and dearly by his family and friends. He will be immeasurably missed.

Also surviving are three children: Cyndi Pierce (and Deb Davis), Wakarusa; Debby (and spouse Troy) Winnestaffer, Millersport, Ohio; and Gregory Scott II (and spouse Maurilia) Pierce, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Amber and Adam (and spouse Amber), all of Ohio, and Mayra, Scotty and Leanne, all of Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Conner, both of Ohio; a brother, Gary Pierce, Minneapolis, Minn.; two nieces, Sara Pierce (and Allen Holzheimer), Minneapolis, and Abby Pierce, Indianapolis; and a great-nephew, Pierce, Minnesota.

The family would like to thank the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving care and kindness.

A private memorial service will be at a later date.

Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka, is in charge of arrangements.
