Donald Ray Owens, 57, of Silver Lake, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Sept. 3, 2013, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was born July 6, 1956, in Warsaw, to Dyrs Sr. and Eva Brown Owens. He was married to Bernice Owens, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 15, 2012, in Godley, Ill., he was united in marriage to Sharon McNeilly, who survives. He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where he was a graduate of Warsaw High School. He was employed at Biomet for the last six years. He attended Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester. He also was a member of the Steel Workers Union. He enjoyed farming, fishing, horses and kids. He loved to help people and he liked Kentucky. Also surviving are his father and stepmother, Eva Owens; grandson, Tyler Ray, Silver Lake; his daughter, Tasha Owens, Bristol, Tenn.; two stepdaughters: Berneda (and spouse Randy) Runkle, Claypool; and Tonya (and spouse Lamont) Rhoades, Columbia City; two brothers, Dan (and spouse Jan) Owens, Indianapolis; Rick Owens, Warsaw; and his sister, Kathy (and spouse Jim) Jackson, North Manchester. He was preceded in death by his mother and his brother, Dyrs Owens Jr. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating.
