BOURBON – Donald Larry Doan Sr., 75, Bourbon, passed away at 3:52 Nov. 2, 2013, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
He was born April 17, 1938, in Clinton, to Donel Raymond and Agnes Howe Doan. On Sept. 20, 1969, he married Cheryl Gift, who survives.
He was a resident of Bourbon since 1973, having moved there from Warsaw. He operated a small engine repair business, and served more than 25 years in the National Guard as an administrative supply technician. He was also a member of the Warsaw American Legion Post 49.
Also surviving are three children: Erin (and spouse Brad) Beatty, and Donel Doan, both of Etna Green; and Donald (and spouse Anita) Doan, Twelve Mile; eight grandchildren: Erica, Brooklyn and Elizabeth Beatty; Melissa, Ty, Darian, Trey and Ryonn Doan; great-granddaughter, Kaycee; a sister, Annella Kay Zamora; and a brother, Alvin Hammersley. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Naomi Faye Dean; and an infant brother, Gary Dennis.
In honoring his wishes, there will be cremation.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 16 at the National Guard Armory, 315 W. 350N, Warsaw.
Deaton Clemens Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
