FORT WAYNE – Donald L. Martens, 77, passed away Oct. 6, 2014, in Warsaw. He was born Jan. 21, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., to Edward and Rebekah Martens. In 1974, he married Patsy, who survives. He worked for International Harvester, retiring after 38 years. He met his wife at the skating rink, where he taught and judged artistic rollerskating. He loved trains, and worked with model trains in his basement. He loved to travel, taking his wife to Europe for one of their anniversaries. He loved his family and friends, especially the time he spent with his grandson. Also surviving are three daughters: Ann and Teddie Stefanski, and Janice (and spouse Alton) Carlin; one grandson, Shafiq (and spouse Niri) Abdulrahim; two great-grandchildren, Laila and Laith; and his sister, Sara Shaver, Phoenix, Ariz. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 23 at Lindenwood Cemetery, 2324 W. Main St., Fort Wayne, followed by a time of fellowship and remembrance at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 420 W.
