MENTONE – Donald K. Bennett, 82, formerly of the Etna Green and Mentone areas, died at 5:10 p.m. Sept. 14, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, where he resided for two years.
He was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Kosciusko County, to Leroy and Ruth Goodman Bennett. He was previously married to Carolyn Johnson Bennett, who preceded him in death.
He was a roofing contractor, a U.S. Navy veteran and a graduate of Beaver Dam High School.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ellen (and spouse Kevin) Hinderlider, Leiters Ford; three sons: Michael Bennett, South Bend; Steve Bennett, Greenfield; and Donald Jr. (and spouse Christy) Bennett, Kewanna; a stepdaughter, Denise (and spouse Tim) Whybrew, Tippecanoe; a sister, Edmarie Mock, Syracuse; a brother, Gaylord Bennett, Portland, Ore.; 12 grandchildren: Stephanie Bennett (and fiancee Gabriel Chaidez), Chicago, Ill.; Keith (and spouse Edali) Bennett, Swansboro, N.C.; Tyler and Angela Bennett and Nicholas and Cole Hinderlider, all of Kewanna; Cassondra (and spouse Cam) Jones, Akron; Joshua Bennett, San Antonio, Texas; Kyle and Nancy Bennett, both of Greenfield; and Shane and Dustin Bennett, both of Las Cruces; and three great-grandchildren, Evelina Bennett, Swansboro, and Anna and Elyse Jones, both of Akron. He was also preceded in death by and infant granddaughter; a sister, Demaris Bennett; and four brothers: Dwight, Chancy, Leroy and Gwendal Bennett.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
