FORT WAYNE – Donald John Doehla, 86, Fort Wayne, passed away Sept. 16, 2016, at Life Care of Fort Wayne. He was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Fort Wayne, to George and Mary Doehla. On May 20, 1961, he married Loretta Held, who preceded him in death in 2002. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He was a longtime member of North Webster American Legion Post 253. He moved to Knapp Lake in 1962, coming from Fort Wayne. He owned and operated DJ Construction. He is survived by two daughters, Debra Stansbury and Karen Hale, both of Fort Wayne; a son, George (and spouse Rachelle) Doehla, Bloomington; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Doehla; a sister, Betty Mast, Avilla; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a son, Brian Doehla; a son-in-law, Greg Stansbury; and two sisters, Ruth Mast and Doris Reek. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastlund Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Syracuse cemetery, with military honors performed by North Webster American Legion.
