Donald “Don” Irvin Brown, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, in Warsaw, at the age of 90.
Don’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Miller’s Assisted Living and Heart to Heart Hospice of Elkhart for the care and kindness shown to him, as well as to the close friends who faithfully visited and supported him.
Don was born on June 4, 1935, to Lewis and Loretta Brown. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1953 and went on to attend Ohio University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Don proudly served his country as an officer in the United States Army from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1963.
On Nov. 23, 1963, Don married Patricia Rose Andrews. Together, they shared 61 years of marriage and were blessed with two children. Their life together was marked by love and shared adventures until Pat’s passing on Dec. 9, 2024.
In 1965, Don and Pat moved to Warsaw, where Don began a long and successful career with Dalton Corporation. He remained with the company for many years, ultimately retiring in 1998 as chief financial officer. Following retirement, Don and Pat embraced world travel, visiting destinations across all seven continents.
A resident of Kosciusko County for more than 60 years, Don was deeply committed to his community. He was a founding member of the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, served as a board member of the Kosciusko Community YMCA and was a longtime member of the Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club. In his quieter moments, Don enjoyed his main hobby of saltwater fish-keeping in his large aquarium, gardening, traveling and spending time with his beloved German shepherd dogs.
Don will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jennifer Brown, of Denver, Colo.; and by his son, Stephen (Terri) Brown, of Zionsville. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Logan Brown, Halle Brown, Sophia Clayton and Briar Clayton. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife, Pat.
Don’s life will be honored with a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 5 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Envoy Ken Locke of The Salvation Army officiating. He will be laid to rest in June 2026 at Forest Grove Cemetery in Plain City, Ohio, with arrangements there entrusted to Ferguson Funeral Home, Plain City, Ohio.
Memorial donations would be appreciated in lieu of flowers and may be made to the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, 1048 South, 325 East, Pierceton, IN 46562.
