Donald C. Atchison, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 10:03 a.m. May 24, 2012, in Casa De Laluz, Tucson, Ariz.

He was born Aug. 15, 1927, in Warsaw, to Floyd and Bertha McGuire Atchison. On March 23, 1946, in Warsaw, he married Martha Hamman, who died Dec. 27, 1997.

He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County residing in Warsaw. He worked at NIPSCO as a customer service supervisor for 35 years, retiring Sept. 1, 1983. He served in the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines. He was a member of American Legion Post 49. He was very active in the men’s bowling league of Warsaw and coached little league for many years. He moved to Tucson to be close to his family in 2005.

Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl (and spouse Jim) Simonsen, Tucson; a son, Larry Hamman (and Kyong Hai) Montgomery Ala.; two sisters, Janice Robison, Elkhart, and Elaine Nine, Warsaw; a brother, Floyd Atchison, Bedford; three grandchildren, Donald,  Tucson, and Debra and Kimberly, both of Loganville, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruby Golding, Mabel Armey and Marilyn Lilly; and brothers, Robert and Bill Atchison.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Bob Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
