Don Lozier, of Warsaw, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the age of 96. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, he lived a long and fulfilling life and will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
Born in Warsaw on Jan. 3, 1930, to Bertha F. Snell Lozier and Harry Kermit Lozier. Don graduated from Leesburg High School in Leesburg and earned his bachelor’s degree from Manchester College as well as his Master’s degree from Indiana University. Don dedicated his entire career to education in Warsaw, leaving a lasting legacy as a beloved educator before retiring in 1992. His long tenure included teaching mathematics at both the freshman and high school levels, as well as serving as the principal of Warsaw Middle School.
Don proudly served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 and was one of many veterans who played on service basketball teams during their military enlistment as part of specialized unit teams, post teams and tournament squads.
On Aug. 15, 1954, Don married Miné E. Diaz; they would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary this year. Together they raised their four children who in turn blessed them with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved being outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, or adding to his collection of tackle and gear. More than anything Don loved his family and serving his Lord. He enjoyed worshipping alongside his church family at North Winona Church of the Brethren where he served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years.
He will be lovingly remembered as a good husband, wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind his wife, Miné E. Lozier, Warsaw; two sons, Al Lozier, Florida; Mike (Valerie) Lozier, Severna Park, Md.; two daughters, Debra (Chris) Yoder, Circleville, Ohio; Marjorie (Kenny) Toombs, Robards, Ky.; six grandchildren: Daniel, Sean, Thomas, Kimberly, Kyle, Jennifer; and three great-grandchildren: Cecilia, Liesel and Louie. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
A private family celebration will take place at a later date to honor Don’s life with his family and loved ones. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
Memorial donations in Don’s memory may be directed to Stillwater Hospice, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46814; or to the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, 1048 S. 325 W., Pierceton, IN 46562.
