Dolores ‘June’ Flowers FryeDolores “June” Flowers Frye passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, one month before her 90th birthday.
June was born in Warsaw on Nov. 13, 1932, to Ezra “Jake” Flowers and Cleo Anglin Flowers.
Her surviving sister is Virginia Horn, of Warsaw. Brother Scott Flowers predeceased her. Surviving children include Jeffrey Allen (Salie), Nanette Crafton (David), Christine Wayman and Jeannine Mecca. She has six grandchildren: Alicia, Travis, Carolyn, Laura, Nick and Lauren; and one great-grandchild, Elijah.
June was married on Jan. 28, 1989, to Richard Frye, who predeceased her. They were members of St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Indianapolis.
June graduated from Warsaw High School and completed one year at IU Bloomington. She was a busy housewife in Indianapolis during her younger years of raising four children. She worked full time as an administrative assistant from 1975-1988 in both Valparaiso and Indianapolis. Throughout her entire adult life, June volunteered at and for many charitable organizations. One that stands out is mentoring special needs adults at their workshop in Valparaiso.
June was selfless, humble, loved animals and people. She helped neighbors and friends, but helping the least of these brought out her empathy and compassion to the fullest. Her heart and actions were the epitome of mirroring the teachings of Jesus.
June could tell a funny story with a twinkle in her eye better than most. She listened well and gave sound advice. June brought joy to others through her own kooky brand of humor. She loved bridge, gardening, sewing, quilting, babies, animals and trees!
June finished life’s race by giving a selfless donation of her body to science. June’s family will honor her life with a private celebration of life. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
Personal messages are welcomed through June’s obituary online in the Warsaw Times-Union.
