Doghouse Set For Grand Opening

Doghouse Set For Grand OpeningDennis Kostro and Fred Policchio spent a lot of time eating Chicago-style hot dogs.
With more than 60 years combined working for the city of Chicago, Kostro and Policchio have had their fair share.
Kostro was a police officer in Chicago for more than 30 years while Policchio worked for the streets and sanitation department.
“The difference is I paid for my meals,” joked Policchio.
After moving to the area, Kostro said he couldn’t find a good Chicago-style hot dog.
So after getting his childhood friend Policchio to move to the area, the two decided to open up the Chicago Doghouse at 1527 N. Detroit St. in Warsaw.
It’s located near The Bowling Alley on the westside of the road.
Kostro said they pride themselves on their fast, friendly service as well as the food’s authenticity.
Other specialties include Polish and Italian sausage, hamburgers and Italian beef.
A grand opening is set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
They will be raffling off prizes that include four tickets to watch the Chicago White Sox play the Kansas City Royals on July 4. The package includes four front-row box seat tickets, a preferred parking pass and a stadium club pass.
Other prizes include oil changes from Jiffy Lube and Monteith Tire, a bowling package from The Bowling Alley and items from Anderson Greenhouse.
98.3 WIOE will do a live remote from the grand opening.
The Doghouse also gives out free Chicago dogs for people’s birthdays.
The restaurant carries Vienna Beef products.
There is currently seating for 15 people inside, though they will expand the seating.
There is also outdoor seating available.
“We want people to know we’re fresh, authentic, fast, convenient and friendly,” said Kostro.
The Doghouse is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.
