Paramedics tend to a 9-year-old Shih Tzu dog named Patches during a mobile home fire Wednesday afternoon at Shamrock Mobile Home Park, at Lot 84 of 920 Anchorage Road. Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Department and Winona Lake Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at the mobile home at 12:54 p.m. Wednesday, called in by a neighbor, according to Mike Brubaker, Warsaw-Wayne Township fire chief. Multi-Township EMS also responded. No one was home at the time of the fire and the cause of the fire and damage is unknown, Brubaker said. The dog was transported to Lake City Animal Clinic, Warsaw, for smoke inhalation, according to owner of the dog and mobile home, Douglas Blanton. Blanton said Patches was sedated and had a seizure yesterday and today and is in stable condition today. A cat named Dufus owned by Blanton’s daughter, Samantha Blanton, 18, was transported to the animal clinic for smoke inhalation and Blanton’s son, Trece Blanton, 17, cat Garfield died in the fire.
