It was a house, not a barn.
It was a dog, not a cow.
And it was Warsaw, not Chicago.
But the story is similar to that of Mrs. O'Leary.
Warsaw Fire Department responded to a fire call at 10:46 p.m. Thursday at 1469 Ind. 25S, where a dog knocked over an oil lamp and set a house ablaze.
The home, owned by Ashley Pennington, sustained $25,000 damage and is likely a total loss, officials said.
A WFD report stated that the oil lamp fell onto a blanket and set the room on fire. The fire apparently spread quickly.
Firefighters were on the scene for about 2-1/2 hours.
According to officials, there was no power to Pennington's house and the oil lamp was being used for light, with a kerosene heater providing the home's heat.
No injuries were reported.
