Doesn't Get Atheism

Editor, Times-Union:

Staci, you got my attention. I think you wrote a letter, denying the existence of God, saying, "you are an atheist."

I am 94 years old. I had many cars and trucks in my life. What would you think of me if I said, "I do not believe there is a car and truck manufacturer?" I am a nonbeliever.

I, when in high school, was told it is possible to have eyes and yet not see. Sometimes the word see means to understand. Maybe that is your problem, you just don't understand.

The Bible (God's word) reads, "In the beginning God, created heaven and earth and everything therein." Gen. 1:1 That includes you and I.

Staci, if a pretty little kitten was in your sight, would you long to pick it up? It has something you wish to have. The only way you can have its love is to pick it up. You had faith to do so. You put yourself in action. The Bible reads, "Have faith in God ..." Mark 11:22. It also says, "God is Love." 1 John 4:8. To have it you must have faith, put self in action, like you would to have the love from the kitten. God's Word reads, "Choose ye whom you shall serve." Jos. 24:15. "No servant can serve two masters; either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to one and despise the other." Luke 16:13.

If you really, really love to be loved, seek God. There is one difference between the kitten love and God's love. God's love is beyond man's comprehension, it is so great. The kitten is for a short time and God's is forever.

Sometimes I think the main reason we are on earth is to make a choice as to whom will serve, God or just things of this world. What do you think?
