A Milford man is charged with sexual battery after investigators found his DNA on the victim.
Francisco Jose Ramirez, 50, of 9668 N. Ind. 15, Milford, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 5:45 p.m. Nov. 24 and faces a Level 6 felony sexual battery charge.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Nov. 16 in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on March 29 Winona Lake police were contacted about a report of a child molestation that had occurred in Winona Lake.
When police met with the victim and the victim’s mother, the victim said she was hanging out with two other juveniles and Ramirez one night and everyone was drinking alcohol. Once the girl went to sleep on the couch, according to the affidavit, she woke up and found Ramirez had pulled down her pants and was touching her.
When police spoke with Ramirez, according to the affidavit, he denied knowing anything or remembering anything.
During the investigation, the victim consented to a sexual assault evaluation, and according to the affidavit, the evidence was collected and sent to the Indiana State Police laboratory, along with samples of Ramirez’s DNA for analysis. WLPD received a report from ISP that Ramirez’s DNA was found on the victim’s genitals.
His bond was set at $5,250, and a no-contact order was issued.
