Several people were arrested outside a Warsaw nightclub after allegedly causing a disturbance and refusing to leave.
Police were called to El Palacio Tropical on Anchorage Road three times late Saturday and early Sunday before five patrons were taken into custody. Some people in a crowd gathered outside the business allegedly were aggressive toward two Warsaw police officers who kept them at bay with batons until other officers arrived to assist.
On the third call, at 2:18 a.m. Sunday, the following people were charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail: Juan Adame, 33, of 1692 E. CR 200N #161, Warsaw; Alfredo Carbajal, 29, of 1280 Hartzler St., Warsaw; and Jugo Avarado, 19, of 8280 U.S. 30E, Pierceton. All were released after posting $175 bond each. Maribel Alvarado, 25, of 1280 Hartzler St., Warsaw, and Margarita Adame, 26, of 1692 E. CR200N #161, Warsaw, each are charged with public intoxication and were released from KCJ after posting $175 bond.
The five were reportedly thrown out of the club by the owner earlier in the night - the second time police responded to a call there - and police told them to leave. They apparently returned a short time later and a disturbance was reported.
When police attempted to take a male into custody who reportedly had a broken beer bottle in his hand, some of the others allegedly became aggressive towards police and shouted obscenities and threats.
Carlos Alvarado, 17, of 8280 U.S. 30E #56, Pierceton, was sprayed with pepper spray and taken to the ground after the beer bottle was taken from him by another man. He is charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, resisting law enforcement, curfew violation and false reporting.
He was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for decontamination from the pepper spray and released to his residence.
Police noted in a report on the incident that a lot of juveniles seem to be present at the business whenever police are called there and, on Saturday, the front doors were locked, with people apparently being let in and out upon request.
