In response to Mrs. Wheeler's letter. What a laugh. Fox news. It's mostly Republicans at these parties. Give us a break. Obviously, Fox News is behind this radical Republican movement. Because they lost and don't understand budgets.
Everytime a letter is written, there are no actual facts. Ten trillion in debt. Thank your Bushy friends for it. All it is is Obama bashing. We are so spoiled in our lives and we expect the best roads, schools, buildings, etc. If you really want to get rid of government spending, start from the bottom. Get rid of everything that matters to us.
Medicare will go broke in 2018.
These tea parties are a joke and misinformed by Fox News. I sure like to see some Republican facts for a change. Bill Clinton is the only president with a balanced budget. You can tell people the truth but it doesn't matter.
Thomas Paine? Maybe read a little more about him. You'll find out he wanted the things the Republicans hate.
These parties are about taxing. Where were you during George Bush?
Empty of better ideas - of any ideas - of how to remain relevant, the reactionary wing of the conservative movement has chosen to quit faking respectability and get back to doing what they do best: cranking up the hate to 11.
Tea and whine don't go together.
Well, Joe the Plumber was at one of the parties and he owes back taxes, so he probably didn't pay his this year, Mrs. Wheeler.
Do you remember learning anything in school about the Great Depression and what Roosevelt had to do to fix the nation? Ever hear about the 10,000 banks that failed without a bailout and the 25 percent unemployment that those bank failings caused before Roosevelt took over from the Republican free marketeer Hoover? I didn't think so.
I had been wanting to look up exactly what Thomas Paine stood for, here it is.
Do you like estate taxes? Paine was pitching them in 1791.
How about progressive taxation? Paine wasn't just for it, he made charts and graphs.
Welfare? Absolutely.
Government make-work programs? Yep. Pay for them with the estate tax.
Public education? Yes, please.
