Discover Doris Day With Author Mary Anne Barothy

Posted
If you're a fan of movie stars from the glam era of Hollywood, come and see photographs and memorabilia from author Mary Anne Barothy's private collection of America's Sweetheart, Doris Day.

Barothy was Day's personal secretary for four years in the 1970s. For nearly two years she lived in the star's home. During this turbulent time for the actress, she lost her first husband, Marty Melcher; her son was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident; she was fighting to regain the fortune that had been lost by an unscrupulous agent; and she was completing her TV series.

This talk is April 24 at 1 p.m. in room C of the Warsaw Community Public Library.

Barothy will share her quest to meet her idol and recount her days working for and living with America's Sweetheart in her memoir, "Day at a Time: an Indiana Girl's Sentimental Journey to Doris Day's Hollywood and Beyond" (Hawthorne Publishing) with her audience.

Her book is now available in the library.Copies of the book will be on sale along with a book signing. This program is free to everyone. Call WCPL to register at 574-267-6011.
