NORTH WEBSTER - A developmentally disabled camper from Warsaw died at Epworth Forest Conference Center in North Webster Friday.
Eula Mae Welch, 62, of Warsaw, collapsed during dinner Friday evening at Epworth Forest Conference Center, and was pronounced dead at 6:25 p.m. at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church camping co-director Nick Yarde said Welch had a history of heart problems.
Welch lost consciousness during dinner and stopped breathing. Emergency procedures were started and responders were alerted to the problem and were at the scene within minutes.
Welch, who was under care at Cardinal Center, Warsaw, was a camper at a special week-long camp for developmentally disabled people ages 16 to 66 years old. She reportedly was a long-time camper who enjoyed being part of Camp Reyoad.
