SYRACUSE – Dewitte C. Thomas, 101, of Syracuse, passed away at 8:20 a.m. on June 8, 2017, at Goshen Hospital in Goshen.
He was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Wolf Lake, to Carlton L. and Edna (Galloway) Thomas.
He graduated in 1933 from Syracuse High School. He was raised in the Syracuse area, lived in Kentucky for several years, and returned to Syracuse in the 1950s. He was a chiropractor in Kentucky for several years and an accountant for most of his life.
He formerly attended the Full Gospel Lighthouse Tabernacle in Kimmell and Wolf Lake Baptist Church.
He is survived by a niece, a nephew and several distant nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Theo J. Thomas.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St. Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Gross, of Grace Bible Baptist Church in New Paris, officiating. Burial will be at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell.
