AKRON - Dewight Manns, 59, of 8520 E. CR 250S, Akron, died at 7:10 a.m. April 26, 2009, in his residence. He was in failing health for a year.
He was born April 4, 1950, in Rochester, to Bradie and Oma Hackworth Manns. On Sept. 1, 1973, in Rochester, he married Carolyn S. Middaugh, who survives.
He was a machinist at Sealed Power, Rochester, and Medtronic, Warsaw. He was a 1969 Akron High School graduate and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He attended Sweetwater Assembly of God, North Manchester.
Also surviving are his mother, Oma Manns, Akron; a daughter, Carissa (and spouse Jacob) Boomershine, Craigville; a son, Charlie (and spouse Jennifer) Manns, Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Dee (and spouse Joe) Dague, Kewanna, and Diann (and spouse Wayne) Grube, Rochester; and a brother, Dewayne (and spouse Carolyn) Manns, Yantis, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Pastor Chad McAtee officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.
Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
