NAPPANEE - Dewey W. Eppley, 79, of 452 N. Main St., Nappanee, died at 1:01 a.m. April 15, 2009, in Bremen Community Hospital, after a short illness.

He was born May 23, 1929, in Nappanee, to Waldo and Joy Ruhl Eppley. On Nov. 23, 1950, in Warsaw, he married Oma Stookey, who survives.

A lifetime Nappanee resident, he graduated from Nappanee High School in 1947, and Purdue University in 1950. An electronic engineer, he retired from Bendix, where he worked for more than 25 years. After retirement, he taught at Ivy Tech. A sergeant in the U.S. Army, he served from 1951-53 and served in Trieste, Italy. He attended Presbyterian Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and taught Bible study.

Also surviving are three sons: Rick (and spouse Jackie) Eppley, Dayton, Ohio; Steve (and spouse Kathy) Eppley, Elkhart; and Terry (and spouse Georgie) Eppley, Leesburg; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Ruth Jo Eppley, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Terry Tyler officiating. After cremation, burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
