A cottage burned down near Dewart Lake early Wednesday morning. Milford Fire Department responded to the call about 3 a.m. and found the cottage located at 58 EMS D18C, Syracuse, fully engulfed, according to Fire Chief Brian Haines. There were no injuries reported. The garage and a house to the west sustained heat damage from the blaze. The cause of the fire is undetermined, Haines said. The cottage is owned by William Doyle, according to Kosciusko County property records. Turkey Creek, Leesburg and North Webster fire departments assisted with putting out the blaze.
