WAKARUSA - DeVon Rose, 80, of 325 S. Elkhart St., Wakarusa, died at 9:25 a.m. Feb. 22, 2011, in Goshen General Hospital, after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Nappanee, to Harvey and Gertrude Martin Rose. On April 4, 1986, in Elkhart, he married Linda Hayes, who survives.
He was a 1949 Nappanee High School graduate and took correspondence classes in drafting, Draftsman for Adams and Westlake, Elkhart, for many years. He worked in the RV business, including Holiday Rambler, Wakarusa. He was the designer/creator of the Bird's Eye View Museum of miniatures in Wakarusa. He was a member of Nappanee Missionary Church and United Commercial Travelers.
Also surviving are two sons, Garry (and spouse Cheryl) Rose and Terry Rose, all of Nappanee; a stepson, Mathew Tharp, Elkhart; a grandson; three step-granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Carlisle Rose, Riverside, Calif.; and a sister, Thelma Prescott, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Nappanee Missionary Church with Pastor Marvin Engbrecht officiating. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
