SYRACUSE - Detmer O. Stair, 79, died Nov. 9, 2007, at Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse.
He was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Marion, to Detmer O'Neal and Rachel Leitch Stair.
He lived in the North Webster area most of his life. He was a self-employed painter and also worked in sales for several years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to November 1961. He participated in the Berlin Airlift and was stationed in Okinawa during the Korean War. He was on flight status and flew combat missions over Korea. He was honorably discharged as a technical sergeant. He was an honorary life member of North Webster Post 253 American Legion and Syracuse Post 1342 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are a granddaughter, Brittany Stair, Ball, La.; a great-grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. May 17 at North Webster Mock Cemetery, with Chaplain Tom Everett officiating. North Webster American Legion Post 253 will conduct military rites.
