Details Slim On Syracuse Officer's Resignation

Posted
SYRACUSE – There are few details concerning the resignation of a police officer in Syracuse.
WSBT out of South Bend reported Thursday night that an officer with the Syracuse Police Department resigned after it was alleged he had “consensual sexual conduct with a woman while on duty.”
Syracuse Town Marshal Tony Ciriello told WSBT and the Times-Union that he did receive a letter of resignation from an officer.
At the time of the resignation, Ciriello said, there was no pending investigation into the officer.
The resignation was brought to the Syracuse Town Council Thursday morning.
Ciriello declined to name the officer who resigned but the Times-Union has learned that Richard Miotto, who joined the force in March 2011, did resign this week.
