‘Dessert Dash’ Is Tonight’s Warsaw First Friday Event

Posted
Tonight’s First Friday will emphasize desserts and include a  contest that will benefit a local not-for-profit group.

The “Dessert Dash” is not really a race, but rather a chance to visit downtown stores offering dessert samples, according to  coordinator Paula Bowman.

Join in the fun at 6 p.m. in downtown Warsaw.

There will be food, lively music, and of course, delicious sweets to munch on.

Local business participants will provide a sweet mini dessert or snack for participants. To participate in the dessert dash, it will be necessary to purchase a punch card.

One dessert sample will be one hole punch out of 10. Punch cards will sell for $3 each or two for $5.

To throw a little more fun into the mix, there will be a crossword puzzle for participants to fill out. The crossword theme is “The Local Businesses of Warsaw.”

Participants who complete the crossword puzzle will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win prizes like a Male Fashions or Latte Lounge gift card.

One punch card and crossword puzzle can be purchased as a bundle for $5 each. Proceeds will go to help support the local nonprofit “Raise the Dough” to raise money for families who want to adopt.

First Friday staff will be at the corner of Center and Buffalo streets selling tickets and crossword puzzles.

Grace College students Kayla Balisteri, Kendra Kookier, Elizabeth Tully and Katelyn Smith are coordinating this event as part of an Event Management class.

"It has been a blast putting this event together and then being able to see it all unfold. Our whole team is excited to execute this month's event since it has never been done before," Kookier said.

The monthly festival in downtown Warsaw runs from 5 to 9 p.m. near the Kosciusko County Courthouse square.

Oldies 101.1 WIOE-FM radio station will provide music.
