SYRACUSE - Derk William Kuhn, 59, of Milford, died at 3:50 a.m. March 6, 2010, in his home.
He was born July 4, 1950, in Warsaw, to Fredric R. and Mary Maxine Gillispie Kuhn. On Feb. 10, 1973, in Milford, he married Kay Ann Waldbeser, who survives.
A lifetime Kosciusko County area resident, he graduated in 1969 from Warsaw High School and attended Purdue University. He formerly worked at The Papers Inc., Milford, as a machine operator for 25 years.
He was a member of North Winona Church of the Brethren and Kiwanis Club, Milford. He was a former 4-H Club leader and Warsaw Junior Chamber of Commerce member. He was the time keeper for athletics at Wawasee High School for more than 25 years. He received the 2009 People's Choice Award at the Kosciusko County Fair.
Also surviving are three daughters: Jennifer (and spouse Eddie) Fields, Fort Wayne; Tracy Kuhn (and fiancé Chad Mayhill), Reynolds; and Sara Kuhn (and spouse fiancé Brenden Kiphart), Mentone; two grandsons; a sister, Pam (and spouse Keith) Harrison, Indianapolis; two brothers, Kim (and spouse Shirley) Kuhn, Warsaw, and Chad (and spouse Deb) Kuhn, Grovetown, Ga.; a half sister, Deanna (and spouse Ralph) Meyers, Warsaw; and a half brother, Paul (and spouse Chris) Kuhn, Silver Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with the Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Milford.
Calling is from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
