Robert E. Derbyshire, Warsaw, recently was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal.
He is a naval airman serving in Washington.
He was awarded for his excellent service and contributions above and beyond the call of duty to the U.S. Navy. Derbyshire was instrumental in the successful implementation of more than 9,000 flights in and out of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island over the past two years.
Derbyshire will study airplane mechanics over the next few months, then will be stationed in New Orleans.
He is a 2005 Warsaw Community High School graduate, and recently married Kara Poling. He is the son of Bob and Lea Derbyshire, Warsaw.
