DePuy Inc. has taken steps toward acquiring a French manufacturer of orthopedic products.
The Warsaw-based company announced today an agreement in which it will purchase 1.9 million shares of Landanger-Camus. The agreement represents 89 percent of the company's shares and is valued at $144 million, according to DePuy.
The purchase is subject to a number of provisions and approval by the French Stock Exchange.
