CLAYPOOL – Kosciusko County Sheriff's deputies responded to a possible prowler call early Sunday at approximately 12:57 a.m. at 6019 South CR 600W, Claypool.

As deputies arrived at the scene, they observed a male subject lying on the porch, along with the home owner exiting his front door.  The subject lying down was found to be suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper right leg, as well as the left ear, and cuts and bruises to his face.

The original caller was unaware that the subject was the victim of a stabbing, according to sheriff’s department reports.  Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, but the victim would not cooperate with the investigation, refusing to advise who stabbed him or where it was committed.

KCSD officers and detectives traveled to Kosciusko Community Hospital and met with the victim, identified as Coty Allan Prater, 25, Claypool, in an attempt to obtain more information on the stabbing.  Prater continued to provide information on the attack.

Prater, who was originally transported in serious condition, was treated and later released from Kosciusko Community Hospital.

Individuals that might have information related to this stabbing incident are ask to call the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, detective division, at either 574-267-5667 or the anonymous TIP line at 574-372-2494.
