Dentist Opens 'Orange Door' to Warsaw

Posted
Dr. Christiaan Willig, DDS, took the long way to open up his dental practice in Warsaw.

After graduating from dental school in 2001, he and his wife, Alina, moved to Montana so he could work at the Black Feet Indian Reservation through a government program that provided much-needed dental care for children and adults on the reservation.

After a few years of living in Montana, and with the birth of their first child, they decided to get closer to home.

Willig is from Fort Wayne originally so he moved to Winona Lake, and in 2007 he took over a practice in Elkhart and started Orange Door Dental Group.

The name came from the ’70s-era orange door that greeted patients as they walked in.

Despite doing extensive renovations to the building, Willig said he couldn’t bare to take down the orange door.

While his new location in Warsaw, 1299 Husky Trail, doesn't have an orange door (in fact, it’s an automatic glass door) he wanted to keep the name as a way to keep continuity between his two offices.

“I also wanted a name that patients could remember,” said Willig.

Located across the street from Harrison Elementary and Deb Collier’s School of Dance, Willig said he is pleased with his location.

Less than 10 years old, the building housed another dental practice before Willig bought it in June.

Once again, he made some renovations but this time the place was already set up with five treatment rooms and enough space to add more.

Willig will continue to work out of his Elkhart office, and to start he will be in Warsaw Wednesday and Friday.

Wednesday hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. while the Friday hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Willig also said as his practice in Warsaw and Kosciusko County grows, he will look to add another dentist.

After spending several years in a program in Montana where he gained experience with a wide range of dental issues, Willig said he feels confident in what he can offer.

One thing Willig prides himself on is that he considers his office to be “kid-friendly.”

“I was able to provide dental treatment to a large population, including children of all ages,  in a remote area of Montana,” said Willig. “There was a lot of need and an opportunity for me to perform specialty care.”

Willig is virtually paperless at his Warsaw location, which he said helps expedite the process for patients and also makes the insurance process quicker.

Orange Door Dental Group has also signed up to be a preferred provider for many of the larger insurance companies in the area.
